Bjarne R. Nørgaard is Head of Engineering Process Development at MAN Diesel & Turbo. MAN Diesel & Turbo have been using Teamcenter for many years for managing engine design specifications, upon which their Licensees base their engine manufacturing on. Their core processes have been traditionally centered around Teamcenter and NX. MAN are in the process of introducing a supplementary PLM system based on ARAS and will use this as a foundation for additional data, improved processes and new applications.
Presenting: Overcoming PLM Challenges to the Licensee Business
26 Feb 2014, 09:25
MAN Diesel & Turbo is the world’s leading provider of large diesel engines. These large engines are designed by MAN Diesel & Turbo and manufactured by 20 different companies on a license basis who sell them to the consumer. MAN have had a central PLM system for decades which makes up the core of the business processes; this traditional PLM setup however, is creating some challenges as the engine warrantee for repair and maintenance still lies with MAN and as such, all data related to each engine needs to be fed into one central system so that MAN can effectively manage any queries or requests. In this presentation, Bjarne will cover these challenges and the solutions they deployed in overcoming them.
- Exploring the special setup of PLM currently in place at MAN Diesel & Turbo and it’s challenges
- How can you efficiently manage warrantee maintenance and repair when in-house development stops at design?
- The ‘Data Warehouse Project’ – collating data from in-house, licensee and user data sources to streamline product and service quality
- Deploying effective change management strategies to support data input, formatting and use
